This chapter is about the interesting, complex and unique concept of Existential Kink, coined by Dr Carolynn Elliott. It is the basis of lots of thinking throughout the book and really foundational to the act of souling.

#SoulingMode

Souling mantra: I am exploring all parts of myself. I am allowed to feel any emotion.

Journal starter: The feelings I often push down are…

When I look around my life at the moment, I see…

The consistent negative experience that comes up for me is…

I might want this because…

Souling action: Existential Kink is an absolutely fascinating concept and one you can continue to play with at times that feel right for you. It’s not always the right time to explore this hard stuff, so be kind to yourself on the journey; if it flows and you're in a place of discovery and interest, awesome. If not, just stop, take a pause and come back to it at a time that is better for you. You can’t force this. When you are ready for it, try listening to the Audible version of the book. Hearing it and reading it are two totally different experiences (and both worth doing). If you don’t have time for this right now, simply ask yourself, “If having is evidence of wanting, what is it that I keep experiencing that’s ‘negative’ and therefore must actually want?”.
